Patience has come to an end for the Denver Broncos, after starting the NFL season with a 4-11 record in their first 15 games. The team has decided to do without coach Nathaniel Hackett and is already looking for a replacement for him.
“After lengthy discussions with (General Manager) George (Paton) and our ownership group, we determined that a new direction would be in the best interests of the Broncos,” team owner Greg Penner said in a statement. “This change has now been made out of respect for all involved and allows us to begin the search for a new manager immediately.”
Paton will continue his general manager duties even as he was Hackett’s primary promoter as a coach. Now he will have the task of looking for the new team leader.
Hackett’s sack came after the Broncos were defeated 51-14 by the Los Angeles Rams. Denver entered the season with higher expectations after signing Hackett and acquiring star quarterback Russell Wilson in a trade to the Seattle Seahawks.
However, the duo’s arrival has failed to elevate the Broncos’ offense this season.
