“The Gallerist” is one of the films that movie fans will have on their screens primarily because of the star power displayed here. The main roles here are Oscar winner and Marvel star Natalie Portman (“May December”) and Jenna Ortega (“Wednesday”) can be seen. This will be the first time the two actresses have appeared together in front of the camera.
But “The Gallerist” also proves to be an interesting project for other reasons. The black comedy is set in the world of the art trade and follows a rather desperate art dealer who is forced to pass off a corpse as a work of art at Art Basel Miami, a renowned art fair in Florida. It is of course clear that this will cause some problems!
“The Gallerist” is directed by Cathy Yan. In 2020, she directed the DC blockbuster “Birds Of Prey: The Emancipation Of Harley Quinn” with Margot Robbie in the lead role, which was received with mixed feelings. She also directed the HBO hit series “Succession,” for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in 2022. Together with James Pederson (“High Heat”) she is also responsible for the screenplay for “The Gallerist”. It is not yet clear when filming will begin.
In the second season of the Netlix megahit “Wednesday,” Jenna Ortega will of course be seen again in the eponymous lead role. When this will appear remains to be seen. But one can firmly assume that this will happen in the course of 2025. You can get a first look behind the scenes of the second season here:
