Zacatecas, Zac., November 1, 2024.- With her metal wings, the Spanish singer Natalia Jiménez flew free on the stage of the Day of the Dead Festival, to delight the packed stands that experienced All Saints’ Day with the “Gala Mexicana” concert.
At exactly 9:20 p.m. Natalia Jiménez came on stage with the song “Sing, Sing, Sing”; Dressed in a long red dress, she remembered that she had not been in Zacatecas 20 years ago, and praised the historic center.
The cool Zacatecan night blew among skulls, butterflies and marigold flowers that revealed the performer, who presented the album “De Jiménez a Jiménez”, where she performs songs by José Alfredo Jiménez with symphonic mariachi.
He took a tour of the beginnings of his career, in which he was part of La Quinta Estación, with his classic song “Algo Más”, followed by his first stage as a soloist with “Quédate con Ella”, “Creo en Mí” and “ “One more lie.”
In the presence of the honorary President of the State System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (Sedif), Sara Hernández de Monreal, this event was framed in the Zacatecas 2024 Day of the Dead Festival, where the mariachi notes led to the “Mexico of my Corazón”, as he titled two of his albums, with songs like “Costumbres”, “No Lastimes Más”, “Amanecí en tus Brazos”, “La Gata bajo la Lluvia”, “No me Vuelvo a Enamorar”, “Me Nace of the Heart” and “If They Let Us.”
The evening continued with the choir of Zacatecans who, under the chimes of the Cathedral Basilica of Zacatecas, sang songs by José Alfredo Jiménez, such as “Que te voy Bonito”, “Deja que Salga la Luna”, “Amanecí en tus Brazos” and “A Strange World.”
The powerful voice of Natalia Jiménez filled the entire historic center with music, party and joy, to fulfill the promise that the night, more than a musical show, would be an emotional journey.
And with the cry of “let the moon rise…”, a silver ray appeared through the clouds and reached the heart of a crowded and singing Plaza de Armas, which served as the stage for the prelude to the Day of the Dead and in the that Natalia Jiménez became part of Zacatecas and connected with the essence of this Festival promoted by Governor David Monreal Ávila in 2024, Year of Peace.
From the first accord, the audience was spellbound; Between screams of emotion, some attendees, with their faces painted like catrinas, chanted “and if they want to know about your past, it is necessary to tell a lie, say that you come from there, from a strange world…”, which resonated like a melancholic echo, a lament in tune with the spirit of this celebration.
Each song seemed like a tribute to memory, absences and second chances; For many, it was dedicating every word of a song to a loved one who is no longer in the world of the living.
Natalia Jiménez is clear that her connection with Mexico goes beyond music, which is why she told Zacatecas “if you want, I will be with you, all my life until I die,” like the classic she sang with “Divo de Juárez.” , Juan Gabriel, in his album of Duets, in a symbolic farewell to the city that was given to him, eager to show that it is an example of peace, which is why, when the last chord resonated in the air, the public responded with a ovation that seemed to have no end.
In this way, the magical evening concluded, in which Natalia Jiménez not only offered a concert, but also an emotional journey through her music for Zacatecas.
The trio “Garganta de Mezcal” and Miranda, a Zacatecan talent, opened the night with songs like “Fallaste Corazón”, “Luz de Luna”, “Preferero ser su amor”, “La Llorona” and “Por qué make me cry?” , with which the people were delivered.
