MEXICO CITY (AP) — Natalia Jiménez is celebrating her two decades of career in music and to celebrate she released her album “Antología: 20 años” on Friday.

“It’s an album completely to celebrate, there are all my great songs,” said the Spanish singer-songwriter in a recent interview by video call from Miami.

“Anthology: 20 Years” features new arrangements for Jiménez’s hits from his time with La Quinta Estación and as a soloist, including “Algo más,” “Daria,” “Perdición” and “Creo en mí.” It also contains three unreleased songs: the huapango “El Pobre”, released as a preview of the album, the mariachi ballad “Llevarte al cielo” and the pop song “Resucito”.

They are all authored by the artist and in the case of “El Pobre” and “Llevarte al cielo” they are her first original songs of regional Mexican music, a genre that has become essential in her concerts and to which she has dedicated her albums. México de mi corazón” and “Mexico de mi corazón. Vol. 2”.

“I’m very happy because it’s the first time I’ve written a huapango,” Jiménez said about “El Pobre,” a song of spite, which she previously released as a preview of her album. “The song is hilarious, I had the pleasure of sharing this song with Mario Domm and Cheche Alara; We wrote it on Zoom in two hours, super fast, because she came out of it like that and it was very, very fun to be able to hit the men in this song.”

Regarding the music on the album, Jiménez explained that fans will be able to hear new arrangements and updated versions.

“You will also hear how my voice has matured in an interpretive way, I feel that now the songs have a different energy, they sound different, but they are still essentially the same songs that made them cry or that made them emotional when they were younger. “, he pointed.

The anniversary comes at a time when she feels “very proud” and happy.

“I feel that the moment I am living now is my best personal moment, my best professional moment, I feel super good about myself, with everything I have achieved, with having been able to get out of difficult situations, having faced them, having won them, having I have overcome so many things and find myself on this side where we are,” he said.

To his list of achievements, Jiménez can add having recently debuted at the National Auditorium in Mexico City to a full house.

“It is a super family event and I invite you all not to miss it,” said Jiménez, who confessed herself as a “fan,” along with her daughter Alessandra, of the 2017 Oscar-winning animated film.

Jiménez is also a rock mom: when she’s not making music she rides two wheels. “I love going out riding my motorcycle and leaving everything behind,” she said.

Next Monday Jiménez will have an autograph signing in Mexico City. “We are going to take photos and we are going to meet in person,” he said.
