Al-Akhbar (Bamako) – The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims claimed responsibility for two attacks that took place on Saturday in Mali, one in Sevare in the center of the country, and the second in an area close to the Mauritanian border, according to two statements issued on Tuesday.

According to the group led by al-Tariqi Iyad Ag Ghali, the attack that took place in Sevari “left dozens of dead and wounded among the Malian army and the mercenaries of the Russian Wagner Group.”

The group announced that it had detonated two booby-trapped cars, which led to the destruction of part of the airport, adding that its members entered “the airport and fought a battle for two hours.”

The group acknowledged losing 15 members, while the Malian army announced on Saturday that it had killed 28 “terrorists”.

In a second statement, the group to support Islam and Muslims killed 10 other Malian soldiers in an ambush on Saturday between “Marja” and “Nara” in the “Koulikoro” area near the border with Mauritania.

On Sunday, the Malian government announced the killing of 10 civilians and 3 military personnel, when two booby-trapped cars exploded near Sevare airport in the Mopti region.
