Nashville defeated San Jose in the NHL opener

The NHL got off to a great start on European ice when the Nashville Predators and the San Jose Sharks faced off in Prague. The round premier on North American ice begins on Tuesday.

There were several Swedes on the ice. Filip Forsberg and Mattias Ekholm were included in the Nashville squad, while Erik Karlsson and Oskar Lindblom were found in San Jose.

Nashville is off to a great start and took the lead after just over a minute, with Kiefer Sherwood pushing in rebound.

However, the management did not stand up. The home bricklayer Tomas Hertl equalized, in power play, 1-1 in the middle of the first period.

In the period in between, it was once again Nashville that got off to a good start. Finnish Eeli Tolvanen took advantage when he scored 2-1. Which meant Nashville scored after just over a minute in the two season opener periods.

Before the whistle of the period sounded, Swiss Nino Niderreiter extended Nashville’s lead to 3-1.

More targets than it didn’t seem that way, but with 27 seconds left Matt Duchene scored 4-1 into an empty net. Thus, Nashville picked up its first points of the season.

Ekholm and Forsberg were scored for one assist point each.

The teams meet again in Prague on Saturday.
