The human tissue found near the detonated camper in Nashville, US, belongs to the prime suspect in the investigation of the incident. The man died in the explosion, the US Federal Police (FBI) reports Sunday evening. The motive of the man is still unclear.
The 63-year-old man from Nashville was identified as a suspect on Saturday night. DNA samples taken from the suspect’s home were found to match DNA found in human remains at the site of the explosion. The FBI says it has no indication that more people are involved in the explosion.
On Friday, Christmas Day, a car bomb exploded in a parked RV in downtown Nashville. In the minutes before the explosion, there was a call from the camper to leave the area. The officers were on the scene after a report of a shooting.
The bang caused heavy damage to buildings in the street and three people were injured. The camper was located near an office of the major provider AT&T. Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee said that telephone connections in his state and in the contiguous states of Kentucky and Alabama had shut down.
Police communications systems were also down and the Nashville airport had to close for several hours.
