Jakarta –
Waketum NasDem Ahmad Ali gave a striking reply to Andi Arief who spoke of the party ‘betraying’ the coalition. Deputy Head of NasDem Ahmad Ali emphasized that his party has no track record as a traitor.
“What Andi Arief meant was NasDem who was accused of treason for delaying the implementation of the declaration, usually when we point at people, one finger goes forward, three fingers point at ourselves,” said Mad Ali starting his response, Tuesday (22/8/2023 ).
Mad Ali then brought up the track record of NasDem and Democrats. According to him, NasDem has never had a track record of being a traitor in the political arena.
“I think the public still has a strong memory of seeing the track records of these two parties. God willing, NasDem does not have a track record of being a traitor. We are trying to honestly look for the best sons and daughters as their home to develop Indonesia,” said Mad Ali.
Mad Ali then questioned the intentions of the Democrats, who often urged Anies to immediately announce the vice presidential nominee. He accused the Democrats of withdrawing support for Anies if the chosen figure did not match their wishes.
“I wonder what the desire is behind the rush for the Democrats to urge Anies to immediately announce the vice president. Are they then sending a message to Pak Anies that if they don’t immediately announce a specific name they will withdraw their support. So once again, let’s work together keep our ethics in the internal coalition, yes, not to point fingers at each other,” he said.
Mad Ali stressed that it is impossible for NasDem to betray the coalition. Moreover, NasDem is the first party to carry Anies as a presidential candidate.
“The NasDem betrayed the coalition? I think any sane person would laugh at that. Everyone knows how the NasDem took a very unpopulist step to declare Anies. Then they joined in,” he said.
“And Pak Surya firmly stated that Anies was declared in the interests of Indonesia. We did not set conditions for having NasDem cadres and others,” he continued.
The former chairman of the DPR’s NasDem Fraction also alluded to NasDem efforts to socialize Anies to the public from the start. He then questioned whether the parties in the coalition did the same thing.
“Then there were people who tried to force their way. And today NasDem was accused of being a traitor, hello? Yes, I think the Indonesian people have known all along how it was when Anies was declared on October 3, at that time NasDem started to carry out a roadshow to consolidate Anies. Others, what to do? ” he said.
“So that’s the accusation, I said earlier, usually when we point at people, going forward, there are 3 fingers pointing at ourselves,” he continued.
Previously Andi Arief tweeted about the party ‘betraying’ the coalition. This was revealed by Andi Arief via a tweet on his Twitter account which was uploaded, Tuesday (22/8/2023).
Andi Arief only said that his party would continue to work with PKS even if another party betrayed the coalition. Asked further about the purpose of his tweet, Andi Arief did not provide an answer.
“We will continue to work with PKS even though another party has betrayed the coalition,” wrote Andi Arief.
