NasDem Promises Surprises for Anies Baswedan’s Vice Presidential Candidate

NasDem said there would be surprises for the vice presidential candidate accompanying the presidential candidate Anies Baswedan in the next day or two. Researcher on Indonesian Political Indicators, Bawono Kumoro, believes that Anies’ candidate for vice presidential candidate is not Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) and Ahmad Heryawan (Aher).

“If it is said that it is surprising, it is possible that the candidate for vice president for Anies Baswedan is not AHY or Aher. Because if one of the two figures is chosen as Anies’ vice presidential candidate, it is certainly not a surprise. These two names are often mentioned as candidates for vice presidential candidate accompanying Anies,” said Bawono in information received detikcomTuesday (30/5/2023).

According to Bawono, it would be very surprising if Anies’ cawapres was a figure in the administration of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Or, he said, figures who have a close relationship with Jokowi.

“Indeed it would be very surprising if the candidate for vice presidential assistant Anies Baswedan is a figure around the current administration. Could ministers in President Joko Widodo’s cabinet or other figures also have political closeness to President Joko Widodo,” he said.

Bawono said that if Anies’ cawapres was someone in Jokowi’s circle, then there would be an impact on Jokowi’s change in attitude towards Anies’ candidacy.

“Giving the cawapres position to people around the current government coalition is expected to have an impact on changing the attitude of the President towards Anies’ nomination as a presidential candidate by the NasDem Party,” he said.

“It is possible that the President’s NasDem Party will consider not being too counter to Anies’ candidacy if the running mate for the former Governor of DKI Jakarta is a figure relatively favored by the President,” he continued.

He also mentioned Jokowi’s concern that if Anies was elected as president he would not continue the IKN would decrease.
