Chairman of the Party NasDem Surya Palo admits to being sad when the Secretary General Johnny G. Plate named as a suspect by the Attorney General’s Office.
He said that currently the NasDem Party is in a state of mourning.
“Sadness that is difficult for us to cover up. We are trying to cover this up, we are trying to keep us strong, to be able to smile with all of our friends, we are trying to do that,” said Paloh at the NasDem Tower, Jakarta, Wednesday (17/5).
He agrees that this is not the first time that NasDem cadres have been caught up in corruption cases. Previously there was.
However, Paloh feels sadder this time because the Secretary General is the suspect.
“But for what happened this time, to our brother Johnny Plate, I have to say one more time, we are saddened by this,” he said.
Paloh said NasDem would provide legal assistance to Plate. He emphasized that legal assistance must be given to cadres.
In addition, he also respects the ongoing legal process. Paloh said that NasDem is at the forefront of maintaining the professionalism of law enforcement.
“We must respect this legal process. We still respect it, but it is difficult to disturb what is happening in my emotional feelings,” he said.
The Attorney General’s Office has named the Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G. Plate as a suspect in alleged corruption in the procurement of 4G BTS towers. After becoming a suspect, Plate was immediately detained for the purposes of investigation.
NasDem then appointed Hermawi Taslim as a replacement while Johnny G. Plate as secretary general.
