2023 is a breakthrough year for NASA. From receiving asteroid samples to launching the Psyche spacecraft, the US space agency has achieved various milestones. At the end of the year, we prepare a list of 10 NASA achievements.
NASA’s top 10 achievements in 2023:
1. This year, NASA astronaut Frank Rubio achieved a milestone by becoming the first American to spend more than a year in space, demonstrating NASA’s commitment to expanding human exploration of space.
2. OSIRIS-REx successfully deposited samples of the asteroid Bennu in the Utah desert, providing insight into the building blocks of ancient life on Earth
3. The Psyche asteroid probe was launched from the Space Center. Kennedy.
4. NASA’s Lucy spacecraft performed the first asteroid flyby targeted at the asteroid Dinkinesh at the deep edge of the main asteroid belt, and the first images are now available online.
5. On October 14, there was an annular eclipse visible in parts of the United States, Mexico and other places. NASA actively participated in this event. They launched three Black Brant IX sounding rockets to probe the ionosphere, the electrically charged layer of the atmosphere.
6. NASA is collaborating with DARPA on Project DRACO, which aims to test a nuclear-powered rocket by 2027, demonstrating its commitment to advanced space propulsion.
7. The James Webb Space Telescope, a wonder of space observation, ushered in a transformational year for science, discovering distant galaxies and solving the mysteries of the early universe. His contributions are too numerous to mention.
8. Before the end of the year, the space station crew completed 12 spacewalks to upgrade and maintain the orbiting laboratory. NASA astronauts continue to install deployable solar systems on the International Space Station (IROSA), with the goal of increasing energy production.
9. NASA celebrates the 25th anniversary of the International Space Station this year while supporting the development of a commercial space economy and supporting partnerships for the development of a commercial space station.
10. NASA also made progress in its Artemis program this year, working hard to reach the historic milestone of landing the first woman and first person of color on the Moon. Specifically in 2023, NASA introduced the crew of the Artemis II mission, the first Artemis expedition with astronauts to orbit the Moon and return to Earth.
