LOS ANGELES, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) — NASA on Wednesday said a preliminary study of a sample of the 4.5 billion-year-old asteroid Bennu. year, which NASA collected from space and brought back to Earth revealed the high carbon and water content in the samples. Both of these elements may indicate that the foundations of life on Earth may be found in these rocks.

NASA’s OSIRIS-Rex spacecraft is part of the first US mission to collect samples from an asteroid. Returned to Earth with samples from the asteroid Bennu on September 24.

Bill Nelson, NASA Administrator Said example from the Osiris-Rex mission. It is the largest sample of a carbon-rich asteroid ever sent back to Earth. and will help scientists investigate the origins of life on Earth for future generations.

Nelson concludes by saying that almost everything they do at NASA is about finding answers to the questions of who we are and where we come from. which NASA missions like the Osiris-Rex mission It will help increase understanding of asteroids that may pose a threat to Earth. It also helps reveal something bigger. This sample has been sent back to Earth. But there is still a lot of science waiting to be discovered. Science that we have never seen before
