NASA’s Perseverance Rover Spots Grounded Ingenuity Helicopter on Mars
In a desolate valley on Mars, NASA’s Perseverance rover has captured images of the grounded Ingenuity helicopter. After a rough landing, the damaged craft is unable to fly again, leaving Perseverance to continue its mission alone. The sandy terrain proved to be its downfall as the helicopter relied on software to track objects below for navigation. The featureless nature of the terrain made it difficult for Ingenuity to navigate successfully, leading to the anomalous landing.
