CIRCLE OF KEDIRI – NASA’s rover has captured new images, revealing geological evidence of a fast-flowing river that once emptied into Mars’ Jezero Crater.
About a year ago, a NASA rover began studying fan-shaped sediments at 250 meters high, possibly the remains of an ancient river delta.
The curvature of the sediments suggests that flowing water appears to have shaped it, and new images taken by the rover suggest it could be a deeper and faster-flowing river than astronomers anticipated.

The new findings are collected in two images, showing rows of undulating sedimentary rock with remnants of what NASA calls “gravel and coarse sedimentary grains.”
“It shows traces of a high-energy river hauling and carrying a lot of debris,” said Libby Ives, a researcher at NASA’s JPL, who operates the Perseverance rover.
Ives says the stronger the flow, the easier it is to move large pieces of material.

Meanwhile, Katie Stack Morgan, deputy chief scientist for the Perseverance project at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, said the river most likely brought large rocks and debris from other regions of the Star.
