“NASA’s Perseverance Rover Captures Evidence of Ancient Rivers on Mars”

BOY ZONE – Photographs sent back to Earth from NASA’s Perseverance rover show evidence that ancient rivers once flowed swiftly over Mars.

This composite photo was created from hundreds of images taken by the Mastcam-Z instrument mounted on the Perseverance rover.

For two years, as reported by UPI.com, Perseverance has been researching the Jezero Crater area, which is home to areas of ripples known to scientists as “curvilinear units,” which are believed to be the location of a series of aqueducts.

This “curvilinear unit” was previously observed from orbit, but Perseverance has given researchers an opportunity to take a closer look at the region.

This image was taken above a geological structure with curvilinear units known to researchers as “Shrinkle Haven”.

The second composite image, which was taken about a quarter of a mile from “Shrinkle Haven” shows the hill named “Pinestand”, along with a series of ripples in the foreground.

There is a consensus of science that the ripples in “Shrinkle Haven” and “Pinestand” are created by water, but it’s not sure what substance the flowing water is.
