NASA’s Osiris-Rex Capsule Returns to Earth with Largest Quantity of Asteroid Soil Samples

WASHINGTON, Sept. 24 – A US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) capsule has the largest quantity of soil samples ever collected from an asteroid. The spacecraft is scheduled to return to Earth on Sunday. Passed through the Earth’s atmosphere and dropped by parachute into the desert in the US state of Utah.

Scientists have high hopes for the recovered samples. It is believed that it will be able to provide information for a better understanding of the formation of the solar system. And how did the Earth become a habitable planet?

The Osiris-Rex spacecraft is entering a key moment today. Because entering the earth’s atmosphere is extremely dangerous. The capsule will be released from an altitude of approximately 108,000 kilometers, or four hours before landing. which NASA hopes “Osiris-Rex” will land smoothly at 9:00 a.m. local time in the United States or 10:00 p.m. local time in Thailand. This will complete a six-year journey. The Osiris-Rex spacecraft was launched into space in 2016, and six years later it landed on the asteroid Bennu and collected Dust and soil samples on Bennu Weighs approximately 250 grams to bring back to Earth. Even though the sample is only a small amount But NASA said It will be able to help understand the characteristics of which asteroids will pose a threat to the world. and will help understand the origins of the solar system. – Thai News Agency
