NASA’s Mars Simulation: Findings and Psychological Impact on CHAPEA Crew

A lot Space United States of America (NASA) has recently carried out a comprehensive simulation of life on the ‘red planet’ or commonly known as Mars. So thanks to a research site in Texas, NASA succeeded in creating environmental conditions that resemble those in Mars.

Reporting from Unilad (1/1), the reason NASA chose to carry out this simulation is because to carry it out in the real place, namely Mars, it takes a long time. Unlike going to the moon which only takes three days, it takes at least 7 months for humans to reach the surface of Mars.

It’s not just a matter of time, NASA has also taken into account various risks in carrying out this expedition. For example, it is possible that if an astronaut does this he will lose his life, so for NASA this simulation is very important.

Therefore, this simulation was carried out very seriously and completely in order to get the best findings. One of the interesting findings in this simulation was regarding the psychological condition of the CHAPEA crew, who felt quite lonely when carrying out this trial for approximately 6 months.

Even though the CHAPEA crew was able to survive that long thanks to the latest technology in farming, things like the conditions on earth were beyond their reach. The crew admitted that they really missed several things such as trees, colors, and even the experience of driving while on earth.
