NASA’s Mars Helicopter Flees Higher and Longest in Second Flight Test

NASA’s Mars Helicopter Intelligence successfully carried out its second test flight on Mars on Thursday. This time the plane was flying longer and higher than it was during the first test.

Ingenuity made of Its first test flight was last Monday. The small helicopter rose to 3 meters, flew for about 40 seconds. Then he landed at the same place again. This is the first time a helicopter has flown over another planet.

The helicopter took off Thursday about 5 meters high, then tilted and flew two meters from either side. The helicopter’s color camera was tested in multiple directions. It is unclear exactly how long the aircraft was in the air.

In the coming weeks, helicopters will fly several hundred meters over the planet several times. After each trip, it may take a few days for the device to recharge its battery using solar energy (rarely).

Mars is very cold and the air pressure is much lower (1% of the air pressure on Earth). Due to lower air pressure, take off becomes more difficult. This is why helicopters have long propellers that spin faster than what is needed on the ground (2,500 times per minute, not 400/500 times per minute on the ground).

The data from creativity will be used, among other things, for future flights of the planet.
