NASA’s Mars Explorer Collects Mineral-Laden Green Rock Samples

FLORIDA – NASA’s Mars rover Perseverance has collected samples greenish stones which is loaded with minerals. The Perseverance Explorer collects small pieces of Olivine rock from planet Mars and place it in a sample tube for safekeeping.

NASA is developing a mission to take samples the rover collects and bring them back to Earth for study in the early 2030s. It is hoped that from this discovery, scientists on Earth can get information from the minerals contained in Olivine for future science. NASA did not elaborate on the Olivine hypothesis that was found to be outstanding, but it is hoped that a lot of new information will be gleaned from the researchers’ analysis. “The latest sample comes from a rock laden with the greenish olivine mineral,” tweeted the Mars rover Perseverance @NASAPersevere.

Interesting Olivine rocks have been found in several places in outer space. NASA’s Dawn mission unexpectedly spotted the mineral Olivine in a crater on the giant asteroid Vesta. The Curiosity rover, which was exploring another region of Mars, found Olivine “fingerprints” in Martian soil samples. (Read also; NASA’s Mars rover Robot Begins to Activate Wind Sensor )

The Perseverance rover first spent some time investigating the layered rock it sampled by scraping the surface and examining what lay beneath. Perseverance had a limited number of sample tubes, so the team selected interesting rocks for collection.
