NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope Discovers Most Distant Black Hole

According to foreign media reports, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) recently announced that the James Webb Space Telescope (James Webb Space Telescope) has detected the most distant black hole so far from the earth, with a mass of about 9 million times that of the sun and an age of more than 13 billion years.

NASA pointed out that the black hole is located in the ancient galaxy “CEERS 1019”, which formed about 570 million years after the Big Bang. The mass of this black hole is much smaller than that of other black holes in the early universe, about 9 million times the mass of the sun. 1 The mass of the sun is about 333,000 times that of the earth.

Currently, the CEERS 1019 black hole is the most distant active black hole ever observed. NASA said, “This number is much lower than the mass of other detected black holes in the early universe. These behemoths are usually more than 1 billion times the mass of the sun, and because of their higher brightness, they are relatively easy to detect.” In Webb Such faint, distant black holes are only detectable with the help of advanced equipment in telescopes. “

The galaxy CEER 1019 looks like a string of 3 bright spots, unlike the single disk of other galaxies. Jeyhan Kartaltepe, a member of the CEERS team at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, said galaxy mergers may increase the activity of black holes, allowing stars to multiply. The researchers also pointed out that the black hole in CEERS 1019 may shortly become the most distant active supermassive black hole on record.
