CALIFORNIA, iNews.id – Helicopter NASA Mars has just marked an important milestone. Ingenuity has crossed the one mile mark for total flight distance.
That number seemed to make Ingenuity fly a lot. But, NASA is only planning a few test flights for the helicopter before expanding the role of the vehicle, the robotic plane won’t cover nearly as much land.
It is also the most ambitious flight to date. The helicopter must swing through 10 different waypoints, and fly to a height of 40 feet during a 310-foot journey.
The Mars helicopter also captured enough images to help NASA produce a stereoscopic image of the Raised Ridges and help inform potential visits from the Perseverance rover.
