Helikopter Ingenuity who accompanied the rover Perseverance on a mission on the Red Planet to complete its toughest mission yet. NASA confirmed that Ingenuity was making further and higher flights across the Seitah region of Mars known as rough terrain.
This latest expedition takes Ingenuity away from Perseverance and across the Seitah region on Mars. This is an area marked by ripples of sand which is a very challenging terrain for explorers.

Bob Balaram, chief pilot and chief engineer for the Mars Helicopter Project at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, said: “The journey through hostile terrain is expected to challenge navigation algorithms. Ingenuity in a new way.
“The onboard algorithm that allows Ingenuity to determine where it is along the flight path,” he was quoted as saying CNN, Thursday (8/7/2021).
A potential challenge that Ingenuity faces on the terrain is the problem of finding the landing site, because Ingenuity’s camera assumes that the ground is flat.
“There is a possibility that Ingenuity will land on more dangerous surfaces, with higher relief than the sandy patches that have been selected so far, ”he said.

During the flight, Ingenuity is expected to take color aerial images of the rocks and ripples it travels through during the flight, which will help the rover’s science team.
Perverance lands on Mars on February 18 along with Ingenuity , which completed its first controlled flight on another planet on April 19, 2021.
