If you’ve ever put a pebble in your shoe, you’ll sympathize with NASA’s rover. The rolling Mars rover picked up a large rock on one of its wheels, and the rock remained stuck for some time. The stone is not a rock, but it is not a small pebble either.

NASA publishes Rough Rover Pictures on a rolling basis. Looking back through the archives, I found the rocks featured in the car hazard avoidance camera photos at least As far as February 6although I haven’t done a comprehensive historical survey.
Since Perseverance appears to have adopted a pet rock, I contacted NASA to see if anyone had dubbed it. If not, I recommendRocco“That would be a great idea.
