NASA’s Curiosity rover finds traces of water ripples on Mars, scientists think life exists

BOY ZONE – A NASA explorer tracing the foothills of a mountain range on Mars has found rock formerly water ripples.

This provides scientists with the clearest evidence of ancient water waves ever seen on the Red Planet.

Curiosity, a car-sized robot that has been whizzing around Mars for ten years, managed to take photos of its distinctive geology in mid-December last year.

The rock, as reported by the Mashable page, is like the undulating patterns found when the ocean tide rolls back from a beach, revealing traces of wobble in the exposed sand.

Scientists on the NASA mission to Mars say waves of water lapping against the surface of shallow lakes created these grooves, perhaps billions of years ago.

Movement of the sediment mixture from the bottom, which they suspect, forms a combing texture in the rocks found.

Previously, scientists thought they might have pinpointed the mysterious source of methane, a gas often produced by microbes and that could have potential implications for the possibility of life on the Red Planet.
