The launch of Artemis 1 has taken more than a decade of preparation
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, HOUSTON — Tumpukan Artemis 1 (megaroket Space Launch System (SLS) dan spaceship Orion) will travel approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) from the Kennedy Space Center’s Vehicle Assembly Building to Launch Complex 39B on August 18. This was revealed by the American Space Agency (NASA) on Friday (5/8/2022).
This launch will make Artemis 1 remains on track to launch on a weeks-long unmanned voyage around the moon no earlier than August 29. Reported Space On Sunday (7/8/2022), Artemis 1 will put the Space Launch System (SLS) megarocket and the Orion spacecraft through their paces to ensure reliability before astronauts make similar trips a few years from now, some of which make it to the lunar surface, if plans are made. NASA come to fruition.
The upcoming launch follows intense system certification and more than a decade of planning. “Our team has worked really hard for a very, very long time to get to this point,” said Rick LaBrode, director of flight for Artemis 1 at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, in a livestream briefing Friday. ). According to him, the mission was very special and they were very excited.
Artemis 1 will mark the first launch for SLS and the second for Orion, which went into Earth orbit in 2014. If all goes to plan on August 29, SLS will roar through the atmosphere to reach orbit in just 8.5 minutes. The upper stage of the large rocket would then deploy Orion into a translunar injection orbit about 80 to 90 minutes after liftoff.
The milestone will kick off a full 42 days of access in space for Orion, assuming liftoff occurs on August 29. Mission times may change slightly depending on the launch date.
“There’s really no time to catch my breath. We’re really getting to work,” said Judd Frieling, director of the Artemis 1 ascent and entry flight at JSC.
