NASA’s giant Artemis 1 lunar rocket launched for the first time on Friday, and is continuing its journey to the launch pad, US space agency officials said.

Rockets and spacecraft for NASA’s Artemis I mission are stored in the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) of the Kennedy Space Center, en route to launching Complex 39B for practice tests.

The flight, which is expected to take between six and 12 hours, begins at about 5:45 p.m. ET, and the cruiser will slowly move during its journey to the platform with a top speed of 0.82 miles per hour, NASA said.
