NASA Will Soon Send More Humans to the Moon – DAILY MISTAR

Washington, MISTAR.ID

After half a century since NASA last sent humans to the Moon, the space agency plans to send astronauts again on the Artemis mission at the end of 2024, January 25 2024 to be precise.

Previously, a mission carried out by Astrobotic, an American space company, would take NASA instruments to the Moon to carry out a series of research before the arrival of humans.

It is known from IFL Science, Sunday (3/12/23), that when the Peregrine lands, this vehicle will carry 21 payloads from NASA, governments, universities and companies from seven countries.

One of NASA’s payloads, the Neutron Spectrometer System, is tasked with looking for signs of water ice near the surface of the Moon and examining the composition of the soil.

The Linear Energy Transfer Spectrometer will also collect information on radioactivity on the lunar surface. Apart from that, there is a unique charge, namely a bitcoin funded by a cryptocurrency company and put into metal decorated with a logo.

While on the Moon, Astrobotic hopes that its instruments can operate for 10 days to carry out a series of research before experiencing a malfunction.

“It is amazing to realize that we are now just one step away from the Peregrine spacecraft preparing for a mission to the Moon,” said John Thornton, CEO of Astrobotic, in a statement.

“With years of dedication and hard work, we are close to achieving the Moon goal. “We invite you to watch as Peregrine, representing seven countries, launches to the Moon and becomes one of the first successful American spacecraft to land since Apollo,” he added.

Peregrine has currently been shipped to Cape Canaveral, Florida, and is scheduled to launch on December 24, 2023.

“As we know, outer space is an environment full of challenges. “We are ready to launch after successfully passing a series of industry standard tests, so Peregrine has a great chance of success in its mission,” said Sharad Bhaskaran, Director of Astrobotic’s Peregrine Mission One.

“Peregrine and his team are ready. After launch, we will separate from the Vulcan Centaur, build up power and establish communications with the spacecraft to guide it toward the Moon. “Next, we will try to carry out a historic autonomous landing on the surface of the Moon,” he concluded.
