Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Voyager 2 disappeared and finally sent news to Earth. The 46-year-old NASA plane uploaded a post on X, Twitter’s new name.

Through the NASA Voyager account, it is known that the legendary plane can fully communicate with Earth. It was also confirmed that Voyager 2 was operating normally and flying according to the planned trajectory.

“Can you hear me now? Last night, I re-established full communication with Earth, thanks to quick thinking and lots of collaboration. I am operating normally and staying on the expected trajectory. It’s great to finally be able to call home,” wrote the account, quoted Monday (7/8/2023).

Voyager 2, which went to the end of the world, was lost after receiving an incorrect order from Earth. According to NASA, the plane accidentally asked it to tilt its antenna to a point two degrees from Earth.

After receiving the command, Voyager 2 cannot receive any commands from Earth. In addition, it also cannot send data back.

NASA plans to wait until October when the plane is reset. At that point, the plane will reverse the error and reposition the antenna to point toward Earth.

While waiting for NASA to keep entering orders while watching the plane detect the signal. Voyager 2 is also expected to remain on its planned trajectory.

At the beginning of August, good news was brought to NASA, after hearing back from Voyager 2. Project manager Suzanne Dodd explained that NASA’s Deep Space Network captured the shuttle’s “heartbeat”.

“NASA’s Deep Space Network, a giant worldwide radio antenna, picked up a “heartbeat signal”, which means the 46-year-old craft is up and running,” he said, quoted by AP News.

Voyager 2’s long journey began with its liftoff from Earth in 1977. It made it past Jupiter in 1979 and Saturn in 1981.

Voyager 2 continued to accelerate until it reached Uranus in 1986 and 1989 the plane reported having reached Neptune. After five hours of travel, Voyager 2 is on the planet’s largest moon, Triton.

Currently, after 46 years of travel, Voyager 2 is estimated to have flown 19.9 kilometers from Earth.
