The image shows an abandoned area of geological formations, including the rim of the Jezero crater. Scientists say it may have once been flooded by water. There is hope to find traces of earlier microbiological life there.

According to Nasa, the highly professional camera system onboard the Perseverance can help map the atmospheric conditions. The US space agency’s specific goal is to find traces of life on the red planet. Nasa already released a spectacular video of the descent and landing of the Mars robot on Monday.
