According to NASA, the photo was taken at a distance of 35,445 kilometers from the planet Pluto.

This image shows the true colors of the planet Pluto, including the dwarf planet’s “heart,” which is a glacier the size of Texas and Oklahoma made of nitrogen and methane,” NASA wrote on its official social media account.
Previously, NASA released another image of the planet Pluto taken by New Horizons.
Pluto was discovered in the 1930s and considered the ninth planet in the solar system, but was classified as a dwarf planet in 2006.
In 2019, NASA awarded New Horizons a mission extension that keeps the spacecraft operational through 2025.
