NASA returns to Venus after 30 years: “Learning to understand why our planet is habitable and others are not”

The first mission “DAVINCI+” (Deep Atmosphere Venus Investigation of Noble gases, Chemistry, and Imaging) will study the atmosphere of Venus to see how it formed and evolved into what it is today. To do this, a probe will dive into the planet’s thick atmosphere to take precise measurements.

The aim is to find out why the greenhouse effect has gone so far. DAVINCI+ will also explore some of the planet’s geographic idiosyncrasies. So far, scientists suspect that Venus lacks plate tectonics, but this new research may shed some light on that.
