In recent days, NASA has reported that it is trying to restore the connection with the probe, which was lost after sending an erroneous command. This caused the antenna to shift a mere two percent, but it was enough to disrupt communications when Voyager 2 was 12 billion miles from our planet.
American experts led by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) immediately launched an intensive search, which was successful. The researchers were going to re-establish the connection by sending the correct command blindly in the hope that the devices would pick it up. Otherwise, there was a risk of having to wait for the October automatic restart of the systems.
Voyager 2 launched from Florida in 1977 with the task of exploring the Solar System, especially the planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The probe entered interstellar space in 2018.
