TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Predictions of the passage of asteroids to earth issued by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) or the United States Space Agency made a scene for a number of astronomers.

In fact, NASA warns that a large asteroid the size of a stadium will approach Earth’s atmosphere on July 24 tomorrow. The giant asteroid is said to be moving violently at a speed of more than eight kilometers per second, or about 17,900 mph.

The National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) also highlighted the asteroid phenomenon called 2008 GO20.

“We are also reviewing the NASA report regarding the asteroid. LAPAN estimates that the asteroid will not pass through the Earth’s atmosphere. Because, until now, there are no predictions of a large asteroid that will fall on Earth within the next 100 years,” said LAPAN Head Thomas Djamaludin at the time. contacted Tribunnews.com, Friday (23/7/2021).

Regarding the potential for extreme weather caused by the effects of the falling asteroid, Thomas explained that there was no effect from the fall of the space object.

He revealed that the extreme weather predicted to hit Indonesia for the next three days was mainly due to the dynamics of the atmosphere and the distribution of heat on earth.

“So it has nothing to do with the narrative of extreme weather caused by the asteroid. The extreme weather that hit Indonesia according to the BMKG’s appeal was caused by atmospheric dynamics caused by variations in the distribution of heat in the oceans and land,” concluded Thomas.

As is known, the asteroid scene falling to earth is still being discussed by many astronomers. NASA estimates the asteroid will fly safely through Earth’s orbit on Saturday and will fly at a distance of 28,70,847,607 km.
