The US space agency “NASA” took a closer look at an elongated strange object, which was spotted earlier, and considered it a potential danger.

Where the asteroid 2011 AG5 attracted attention with its strange shape, as it passed at a distance of 17 million km from Earth at the beginning of February. This was an important opportunity for the space agency to study the celestial body.

“Our planetary radar systems have detected 1,040 NEOs so far,” said Lance Benner, lead of the observation team.

“But this is one of the tallest objects we’ve seen,” added the scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

The body is about 500 meters long and about 150 meters thick.

Scientists say that 2011 AG5 looks like a huge skyscraper like the Empire State Building in the USA.

The asteroid was first discovered in 2011, at that time, NASA researchers believed that the probability of the object colliding with Earth was high.

Later, the object, which was found to have a lower risk of hitting the ground, was removed from the potential danger category.

Despite its long history, astronomers haven’t had a chance to study 2011 AG5 in detail until now.

And in the new research, measurements from the Goldstone Solar System Radar in California, USA, provided detailed information about the object.

For example, it has been determined that the asteroid completes a rotation on its axis every nine hours.

Astronomers have also revealed more precisely the path the asteroid took as it orbited the sun.

Accordingly, it takes approximately 621 days for the object to complete this orbit.

The UFO will make its next close pass to Earth in 2040.
