NASA Launches Defense Mission to Overcome Asteroid Collision with Earth

SERAMBINEWS.COM – The threat of an asteroid collision has indeed become a hot issue that makes scientists worry, one of which is looking at the case of an asteroid collision that occurred around 66 million ago.

Therefore, this NASA mission is prepared to face that possibility.

The event wiped out most living things including the dinosaurs.

That’s what experts are trying to avoid with planetary defense missions.

The planetary defense mission will be divided into two phases. The first is by searching for as many space rocks as possible.

It then tracks an asteroid close enough that scientists can model its trajectory and compare it to future Earth orbits.

The United States Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has recently launched countless space probes into the Solar System.

But this time, NASA launched a different mission than usual, namely an asteroid defense mission.

Quoted from Space, Friday (11/5/2021) the mission launched this month is called the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART).

DART is a NASA defense mission from asteroids by detecting large asteroids that have the potential to collide with Earth, evaluating the risks they pose, and if necessary trying to prevent collisions.
