NASA: James Webb Telescope Will Carry Out Scientific Mission For 10 Years

JAKARTA – Accuracy of Ariane 5 Rocket in launching James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) makes NASA happy. Because the propellant carried by JWST is more durable, it is possible that the telescope could help scientific research for up to 10 years.

As is known, NASA launched the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) right on Christmas Day. After its launch, NASA announced some pretty surprising things about the future of this telescope.

NASA says the scientific mission will likely run for more than 10 years. Ii means double the minimum time to perform a space mission.

Initially, the JWST was projected to be operational for 5 to 10 years, but NASA’s newly released analysis found that the telescope will likely have enough propellant to support scientific operations for much longer.

According to NASA, quoted The Verge, Monday (3/1/2022) the extra propellant was thanks to the precision of the Ariane 5 rocket used JWST when launched into space.

It’s also due to the precision of the first and second mid-lane correction maneuvers, minor trajectory adjustments that the spacecraft has completed in the days since launch, putting it on track to its destination one million miles from Earth.
