Scientists at NASA have discovered new evidence of a volcanic moon outside our solar system.
This new study suggests that the moon, which may be covered in lava, may have given birth to a large metallic cloud and may soon violently disappear.
This moon, called WASP-49 b, is a gas giant exoplanet with a mass about three times less than Jupiter and located 635 light-years from Earth.
Discovered in 2012, this alien world is very close to its star, orbits every 2.8 days and has an average temperature of around 1,100 degrees Celsius.
In 2017, scientists discovered a large sodium cloud around WASP-49 b.
At first, this discovery surprised researchers because the exoplanet and its star should not be able to produce this element on such a large scale.
However, it was later discovered that this strange cloud could be erupting from an exoplanet covered in volcanoes.
But research on this topic is progressing slowly because the sodium cloud is often hidden by the larger objects it surrounds.
