The Hubble Space Telescope, from Nasa, identified a “runaway black hole” in the galaxy NGC 4395, 14 million light-years from Earth. The discovery was published last week. Despite the exacerbated distance, the system is one of the closest to the planet. Due to the energy emanating from the phenomenon, NGC 4395 has a very bright core.
Black hole makes galaxy brighter
NASA explained that “Seyfert galaxies contain active galactic nuclei, or AGNs, powered by supermassive black holes.” “AGNs are extremely bright, as radiation across the entire electromagnetic spectrum is produced as the black hole devours material that comes very close to it,” said the astronomers responsible for observing the runaway black hole.
