The US Space Agency’s mission spottedNASAAn exoplanet orbiting a small star about 100 light-years away.
The planet, called TOI 700 e, is likely to be rocky, and is 95% the size of Earth.
The discovered celestial body is the fourth planet to be discovered orbiting the small dwarf star “M TOI 700”, and it could be a habitable place, meaning that it is in an area at a distance that makes it possible for liquid water to exist on its surface.
Scientists had previously discovered 3 planets around the aforementioned star, called “TOI 700 b”, “c” and “d”, and all of them are located in the region that may be habitable for life.
“This is one of the few systems that has multiple, small planets and habitable zones,” said Emily Gilbert, a postdoctoral fellow at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California, who led the discovery. .
