NASA Detects Asteroids As Big As 2 Times Big Ben Speeding Up Towards Earth

MENLO PARK – A big asteroid will enter Earth orbit there this week. The size of the asteroid is even said to be twice as large as Big Ben, a large bell in the center of the clock tower located north of the Palace of Westminster, England.

According to NASA tracking, the asteroid, dubbed 2021 PT, will make an approach on Sunday, August 29. READ ALSO – Escaped from 2011 UC292, Asteroid 2021 PT Earth’s Real Threat of the Week

Launching the Daily Star page, Thursday (26/8/2021), this asteroid has a diameter of 110m to 240m, while Big Ben is only 96m.

He was traveling at over 16,000 mph. But take it easy because the celestial body will pass Earth at a distance of more than three million miles. For comparison, the moon alone is 238,855 miles from Earth.

This object is classified as an Apollo asteroid, “orbit asteroid dekat Earth that traverses Earth’s orbit similar to 1862 Apollo “

Another asteroid that NASA has successfully tracked is 2011 UC292. It has a smaller diameter of 73m – 160m, but travels at a faster speed of 19,103mph.

However, it will also pass Earth at a safe distance of more than two million miles on Tuesday, August 24.

In a recent study, scientists believe they may be one step closer to identifying the origins of the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs.

Since the late 1970s, researchers have become increasingly convinced that the space rock landed near Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula.

Asteroid then hit Earth at over 67,000 mph, forming a 93-mile-wide Chicxulub impact crater, and was completely destroyed by the impact.
