Suara.com – NASA postponed the first flight of the mini helicopter being carried again Perseverance ke Mars.
Ingenuity originally scheduled to fly as early as April 8. However, the space agency postponed Ingenuity’s flight to April 11 and is now delayed again to April 14.
The delay occurred in response to an abnormality during testing to see the helicopter blades reach speeds like flying 2,400 rounds per minute.
“During the high-speed spin test of the rotor, the command sequence controlling the test ended early as the ‘watchdog’ timer expired,” NASA officials wrote in a statement on April 10.

The statement added that the engineers behind the Ingenuity mission were still reviewing the data from the helicopter to better understand what was going on.
Ingenuity arrived on the surface of Mars on February 18, being transported to the Red Planet as a technology demonstration project by the Perseverance rover.
After the rover was at his landing site in Jezero Crater, the car-sized robot began searching for the airfield for the helicopter’s historic flight.
Reporting from Space.com, Monday (12/4/2021), the next step, Perseverance releases Ingenuity which is stored in the lower part of its stomach.
Before taking the test flight, Ingenuity must pass several achievements, including surviving alone on a cold Martian night.

The mission team also opened the blade of the helicopter and tested it at a low speed, only 50 rounds per minute.
Earlier on Friday (9/4/2021), the helicopter attempted to test its blades at full speed, but the process ran into problems.
If preparations go well, the mission team hopes that Ingenuity will be able to fly in about 31 Earth days.
