Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia The United States Space Agency, National Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA highlights the theory regarding the reversal of the direction of the sun’s rise, as stated in a post on Facebook.

The post caused a stir among netizens, because it stated that the sun rising from the west announced that the Earth was facing the end of the world. The post was written in Thai and English and stated that the reversal of the sun’s rising direction was caused by the earth’s rotation reversing direction.

The author of the post explains that the Earth is experiencing a magnetic field reversal, and claims that the theory in the post is also supported by the United States (US) space agency or NASA.

“The Earth will rotate in the opposite direction, causing the Sun to appear from the west side. Researchers believe that we are moving towards a reversal of the magnetic field which will be the end of humanity and approaching the apocalypse,” as written in the post, quoted on Sunday (19/11/2023).

However, NASA has never supported this claim. Bettina Inclan, Associate Administrator for Communications at NASA, said that her party and other organizations do not support this theory. “Neither NASA nor any other scientific organization predicts that the Sun will rise from the west,” said Inclan.

Even so, NASA admits that changes in the magnetic field do exist and have occurred, and a number of scientists have studied this. However, Inclan denied making the Earth spin in the opposite direction.

“The reversal of the magnetic field is a real phenomenon that has occurred several times in the past and scientists all over the world have studied it, but the statement that this makes the Earth rotate in the opposite direction, making the Sun rise from the west, is wrong,” said Inclan.

However, one of the planets in the solar system does face the Sun rising from the West. The planet Venus rotates backwards and makes the Sun not come from the East.

For rotation time, Venus takes a long time, namely 243 Earth days. Meanwhile, the planet takes 225 days to circle the Sun.

This has the effect of changing the day and year almost the same. On the planet Venus, the Sun will appear once in 117 days or twice a year.
