SpaceX’s Starship spacecraft should deliver astronauts to the surface of the Moon by the end of 2025. However, NASA is increasingly concerned that this will ultimately not be possible.
The associate administrator of the aforementioned space agency, Jim Free, recently let it be known that this mission will probably have to be postponed until 2026.
“Our current date is December 2025, but with the problems that SpaceX is having, I think we really have reason to be concerned,” he stated.
There are still many starts left
Among other things, Musk’s company will have to first land on the surface of our natural satellite without a crew and also successfully demonstrate the refueling process in Earth orbit.
“That’s a lot of launches to complete those missions,” he declared Free according to SpaceNews.
Recall that Elon Musk said on Twitter at the end of April that the next test flight of the Starship prototype could happen “in a few months”. But that also depends on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which is still investigating the explosion of SN24.
