NASA Chooses SpaceX for Astronaut Return Amid Boeing Starliner Safety Concerns

The astronauts will be brought home by a spacecraft from rival Space X. It is considered too dangerous to bring them home with Boeing’s troubled new Starliner capsule.

– NASA has decided that Butch and Suni will return with Crew-9 in February, and that Starliner will be allowed to return unmanned, says NASA head Bill Nelson.

– It was not an easy decision, but it is the right one, he said, referring to security.

This news is considered a big breakthrough for Boeing.

During the journey, the Starliner was affected by a helium leak and problems with the fuel supply, among other things. In addition, five cruise missiles stopped working.

The launch of the Starliner spacecraft was postponed several times, but it was finally possible to do it on June 5 of this year. According to the original plan, the astronauts, Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, would live on the ISS for a little over a week.
