Solo – NASA astronaut Frank Rubio has been in space for more than a year. According to NASA, he will spend exactly 371 days in space before his scheduled return to Earth on September 27.
Reported detikINETSunday (17/9/2023), NASA administrator and former US senator, Bill Nelson appreciated Frank Rubio for breaking the record as the longest-serving astronaut in space.
“Frank Rubio’s journey in space represents true exploration. When he broke the record as the longest US Astronaut in space, he also paved the way for future generations of astronauts. Your dedication is truly extraordinary, Frank!,” wrote Nelson via a tweet on his X page, @SenBillNelson.
Previously, NASA also shared a tweet saying that their astronaut, Frank Rubio, had just broken a record that surpassed the previous record.
“Astronaut Frank Rubio just set a new US space record, surpassing his previous record of 355 consecutive days on the ISS, the longest mission for NASA.
He is scheduled to return to Earth on September 27, so he will spend exactly 371 days in space,” NASA wrote in a tweet on the official X account @NASA, quoted from detikINET.
For your information, Frank Rubio started his career in the world of space in 2017. He carried out his space journey in September 2022 using Russia’s Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft.
Frank Rubio graduated from the US Military Academy in 1998. He served as a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter pilot with more than 1,100 flying hours, 600 of which were combat flights. He was involved in US Army military operations in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq.
He also has a health education certification, completing a doctoral program in medicine in 2010.
