NASA Astronaut Crying Sobbing Seeing the Condition of the Earth, Why?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – A NASA astronaut reportedly cried when he saw the condition of the Earth from the International Space Station (ISS).

Astronaut named Megan McArthur said it was sad to see fires raging in many places in the world. Some of these events can also be seen easily from space.

He said scientists around the world had actually sounded the alarm over this problem. Megan also added this as a warning to the entire global community.

“We are very sad to see fires across much of the Earth, not just the United States,” Megan McAthur said in an interview with Insider and quoted from Futurism, quoted Friday (10/29/2021).

“This is a warning to the entire global community. It takes the entire global community to face this and overcome these challenges.”

Satellite imagery shows forest fires forming clouds of smoke of astronomical proportions in areas around the planet. It occurs from Siberia, Greece, and Spain all the way to the Pacific Northwest.

The country hardest hit by this incident is reportedly Turkey. In other parts of the world, the United States (US) is also struggling to recruit enough firefighters to tackle forest fires.

Meanwhile, research shows that the Brazilian Amazon rainforest is also experiencing problems. Research Dr. Simon Evan of Carbon Brief says there is deforestation and it’s been happening for the last few decades.

Deforestation or deforestation is done so that the land can be used for other things. For example, agriculture, livestock, and residential or urban areas.

In Brazil, deforestation was carried out by colonialists to clear land. Namely a place to grow commercial crops such as rubber, sugar, and tobacco.

These activities accelerated in the last half of the 20th century to create cattle ranches, plantations for industrial-scale crops such as soybeans, oil palm and logging.

Significant land reduction can also be seen from aerial photos. As a result, Amazon is releasing more Co2 than it has absorbed in the last 10 years.

According to researchers, 40% of the forest could also turn into a drier savanna-like landscape. Convinced that the level of rainfall continues to decline due to climate change.

Savanna is an ecosystem characterized by less tree cover and dominated by grasslands. These lands also usually exist in areas with a temperate climate and less rainfall than rainforests.
