NASA asks commercial companies to pick up and sell moon rocks

The American space agency NASA wants to work with commercial companies to collect lunar soil and stones. The organization has a document published, proposing companies to pick up and sell lunar land. Preferably before 2024, the year in which NASA will return people on the moon wants to put.

NASA pays between $ 15,000 and $ 25,000 for the lunar soil, depending on the weight (between 50 and 500 grams). Companies must provide proof or a photo along with the exact location so that the samples can be picked up by NASA missions. The companies therefore do not have to bring the moon rocks to Earth themselves.

The Americans want to use the samples for research, NASA chief Jim Bridenstine writes a blog. At the same time, the space organization wants to stimulate companies to extract lunar resources.

“The scientific insights we gain from robust, sustainable and safe lunar research will benefit all of humanity,” said Bridenstine.
