LOS ANGELES, Oct. 12, 2023 (Xinhua) — NASA and SpaceX postponed the launch of the Psyche mission, which was scheduled to take place on Thursday, due to unfavorable weather conditions.
The Psyche mission is the first American mission ever to study a mineral-rich asteroid. It aims to help scientists learn more about the composition of rocky bodies in our solar system, according to NASA.
The new launch time has been set for 10:19 a.m. Eastern time on Friday, October 13, from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The Psyche spacecraft is scheduled to travel a distance of 2.2 billion miles to a metal-rich asteroid at the far end of the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
