Naples-Salerno history line: rail connections between Nocera and Cava de’ Tirreni restart

After months of interruptions due to the partial collapse of a private building near Vietri sul Mare, the historic Naples-Salerno line will soon see a partial resumption of connections. Starting September 12, Trenitalia will activate a rail shuttle service between the stations of Nocera Inferiore and Cava de’ Tirreni, offering 18 daily trips and over 2,500 seats for commuters and students who travel between Naples and Salerno every day.

This first phase of recovery comes after the infrastructural interventions carried out by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (FS Group) to restore the safety of the line, suspended since last January 20. The train shuttles will guarantee connections with the connections to and from Naples Campi Flegrei, reducing the inconvenience suffered by users in recent months.

From September 23, the service will be further enhanced with the introduction of 12 more trips, for a total of 30 trains per day, until the demolition of the building is completed and the railway line is made permanently safe. This increase also responds to the mobility needs related to the imminent start of the school year, with particular attention to commuters and students who use the line every day.

At the Nocera Inferiore station, Trenitalia has set up a customer service desk to provide support and information. In addition, all sales channels, both online and at the stations, have been updated to reflect the new offer of connections. More details on the measures and timetables will also be available in the customer service offices and on the information channels of Rfi and Trenitalia.

With this new plan, Trenitalia aims to minimize the inconvenience for travelers while waiting for the complete restoration of the Naples-Salerno line.
