Il Naples Basketball against Sassari plays the third last game of the regular season of the LBA at home in a Palabarbuto full once again in search of the two points that would put the coach team Maurizio Braglia in the best conditions to fight for salvation, thanks to the defeat of the Fortitudo Bologna against Varese per 103 a 92.
The Neapolitan team, however, loses the opportunity to move to +4 from Fortitudo which remains two lengths away. But now to win, the team will be forced to win at PalaDozza in a competition from inside or outside. Coach Bucchi returns to the sports hall, greeted by applause from the home crowd, now Sassari’s own coach.
NAPLES BASKETBALL SASSARI SUMMARY
FIRST FOUR 18-19
He does not score anyone for the first two minutes of the game, Rich takes care of it with an average shot to score the first points of the game, repeating himself immediately after with a stoppage and shot worthy of his talent. However, as often happened in the season, Napoli seems to have a soft start to the game, especially in defense. Buscaglia is forced to call the first time-out on the partial of 10-4 for Sassari.
–
Gevi comes out well from the break with a triple made at the end of the 24 to Velicka. Sassari, however, proves to be a difficult team, especially in attack with Robinson who puts the Azzurri defense in difficulty and Gudaitis in trouble under the basket. Buscaglia opts for the long double tried against Milan with the Lithuanian and Zerini together. After a complicated start, Gevi manages to get back on track and recover the initial disadvantage by closing the fourth on 18-19 in fiery Palabarbuto.
SECOND FOURTH 37-43
The second quarter opens in a very similar way to the first with Napoli wasting a lot under the basket and unable to materialize from the line, you have to wait McDuffie at 7 ‘for a 2/2 after Rich in the first quarter with Gudaitis, Rich and Uglietti always at 50%. The Lithuanian center seems to be a different player compared to the latest releases but the errors from the line and the lack of personality for a player who until yesterday was playing the EuroLeague are objectively difficult to understand. At 5; 44, coach Buscaglia is forced to call the time-out enraged due to the various errors in the possession phase of the team that open to two counter-attacks in a row by Sassari who thus goes on 23-32.
Gevi in the second part of the fourth sees the game slip away from the hands with Rich the only player of the blues who manages to be dangerous in the offensive phase. For Sassari instead continues the super game of number 4 Robinson to which Logan is added with three triples that almost put to the mat the blues. After the timeout, Buscaglia’s team exits determined by the blocks and shortens the distances up to 37-46 with a 4-point game won by McDuffie. The last minute is all of Palabarbuto who returns to beat and roar like few in Italy. The first one ends with Sassari sul +6 with Napoli that manages to limit the damage after having completely lost the compass of the race in the middle of the fraction.
THIRD FOURTH 58-59
In the second half what for this match and for Napoli Basket in the last match seems almost a mirage, 2/2 of Rich from free who opens the scoring for Napoli. Immediately afterwards McDuffie puts a triple that puts the team back on -3. The attitude of the team seems different but in attack there are few clean chances created.
The team manages to get in the game at 5:26 with many individual plays and Parks penetrations who, however, do not seem to be in his best evening and the usual Jason Rich who if in defense never manages to give what one should expect from a player like him, in the offensive phase he remains the beacon of Buscaglia’s team. Napoli goes ahead for the first time in the game at 51-49 thanks to a counterattack basket by Uglietti. At the end the fourth ends on the plus one Sassari.
FOURTH FOUR 72-78
The last fraction opens with Napoli more attentive in defense that manages to contain Sassari’s attacks, but there are some episodes contested by the Neapolitans in the management of fouls by the referee with the guests who in the bezel unlike the boys of Buscaglia they build part of their loot.
The team seems to be losing certainty and Buscaglia is forced to call the time-out at 62-67. In the final, Gevi seems to have lost all hope of being able to win and wanting to win the game without being able to build a single action worthy of the name with the Sardinians going on 72-64 with 2:38 from the end.
Mcduffie is the only one who seems to believe in a possible comeback and leads the team up to 71-74 with yet another individual play of his match. Napoli would also have the chance to play for the potential draw and take the game to overtime. With 11 seconds left, Sassari is above 72-76. On the last action, however, Mcduffie fires on the iron and thus the possibilities of Gevi are extinguished. The game ends 72-78 in favor of Sassari. Now it is hard for salvation with the team coming out between the whistles of Palabarbuto who supported the team until the last second of the game.
